Outlast® technology is the original temperature-regulating technology. Outlast® fabrics, fibers and coatings are ingredients found in everyday products and high performance gear such as bedding, footwear, apparel, outerwear and accessories.
Outlast® technology balances your temperature through the use of patented microencapsulated Thermocules™ that absorb and store excess heat, releasing it when you need it most. Outlast® technology continuously adapts to your changing thermal needs. Whether the environment is cold or warm, products with Outlast® technology balance your temperature by reducing overheating and therefore perspiration. When you’re cold, the result is less chill. When you’re warm, Outlast® technology works to keep your body from breaking a sweat as rapidly as if you were wearing products without Outlast® technology. You stay more comfortable longer.
Outlast Technologies, Inc. holds patents for the original temperature regulating technology and ingredients for fibers, fabrics and coatings. Many products in the marketplace claim to have temperature-regulating properties, but in essence they are really promoting temperature regulation through moisture management, not active phase change technology. Outlast® technology is a proactive technology. It’s uniquely engineered to wick away excess heat and prevent you from perspiring. Other technologies are reactive. In other words, you would have to first perspire and be in contact with the fabric to receive any benefits. By balancing your personal micro-climate, Outlast® technology keeps you thermoneutral.
As with all textile products, you should wash your bedding prior to use. Keep your bedroom temperature at or below 65ºF (18ºC). Use the Outlast® technology bedding products as you normally would. Flannel sheets are acceptable for use during the cooler months. Place the coverlet, comforter or blanket directly over your top sheet. Excessive layering of traditional sleep products is not recommended though duvet covers and lightweight bedspreads are acceptable. In all cases, the best results are obtained by building a cocoon of Outlast® technology products that include a minimum of a comforter, mattress, mattress pad and pillow.
People typically set their room temperature low at night then climb into bed and layer with covers. Heat radiating from the body is trapped beneath the covers and can prevent your body from cooling down, making it difficult to fall asleep. It is not uncommon for people to toss and turn as their bodies search for their comfort zone. The heat-absorbing Thermocules™ in Outlast® technology continually absorb, store and release excess body heat to keep the temperature and humidity within your bed in the optimum range for restful sleep. By eliminating temperature swings throughout the night, you are less likely to wake.
